Plunge?

Should I quit the corporate world and take the start-up plunge now? This is the primary question in my mind now. Of course the question is only on the 'now?' part...

Lots of serious thinking. Lots of effort. I will share more on this...

Productivity Porn

What is it?

Yes, I am addicted to it. And yes, now that I realize it, I need to grow out of it.
... there’s a big difference between buying new running shoes and actually hitting the road every morning. Big difference. One is really fun and relaxing while the other requires a lot of hard work, diligence, and sacrifice.

Nokia 770

Although they seem to be messing with me by delaying the shipping (bought it last saturday), I should be getting this soon. Hopefully next week :-))) Excited. Very. It runs full fledged Linux. What else can you ask for? I will write more on this soon.

Seychelles

I am intrigued by an almost daily visit to this blog from a person from Seychelles. Intrigued because I've never heard of the country before. This just shows my limited of knowledge in geography - no offense to that person of course! I became very interested and wanted to know all about the country. My first stop was CIA's World Factbook.

Before I go on, I would like to thank the person from Seychelles for being a regular visitor. Hi! Thanks and welcome to my blog!! Plz do leave your footprint in the comments section :-)

"As pure as it gets" is their jingle to attract tourists. Seychelles is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar. This by itself sounds exotic and inviting.

Lonely Planet eloquently says:
Among the 115 islands of the Seychelles you will find the luxuriant, tropical paradise that appears in countless advertisements and glossy travel brochures. But however seductive the images, they simply can't compete with the real-life dazzling beaches and crystal-clear waters.

There are more shades of blue and green in the Seychelles than it is possible to imagine. Forming a backdrop to the relaxed tropical image of the Seychelles are the rhythms, colors and flavors of Africa and gris gris, the local brand of black magic.
When I make that million($), I am definitely going there :-) May be even before that :-)) Think of a long relaxing vacation in that paradise! Wow!! It feels good even to think that. Their official language is English too! (besides French)

I am already dreaming...

"It's as sea-sun-sand relaxing as it sounds" - says the Lonely Planet.

"The Fire Within"

Five guys got together in college and made a music album. (I was curious to know which college - but that info has so far proved elusive) I haven't heard the music yet - but it is exciting to even know that they have just got it done. Great days ahead for the fresh new talent, I think...

Check them out... Certainly something TamilNadu has been waiting for.

Life Metrics

I read this post in IWillTeachYouToBeRich. It blew my mind. I am going to try to actually do some of these.
What would happen if you tracked these things?
1. How much $ you spend per month
...
3. How much time you spent working on the thing you say is your "passion" last month
...
8. How much time you actually work at work
...
10. Which of your goals you accomplished last year

Ad Campaign

I am trying a new ad campaign for this blog - primarily as an experiment. If you reached here through an advertisement, please leave a comment - even just an 'X'. That way, I will know that the ad agency didn't generate clicks using scripts or zombies.

If this experiment is successful, I will use this experience for my entrepreneurship efforts. I will share the info with you too. I hope you will use that for your entrepreneurship efforts. Share your marketing experience too, please...

Well, how about the real visitors who come here through those advertisements but don't leave a comment? I guess we can, for all practical purposes, consider them as script-clicks :-)

Rest assured that I didn't use a slimy spam marketing method.
It is : www.immensehits.com
I honestly don't think such marketing will yield any beneficial results... but what do I know...

I would consider this experiment a success if 5% of the promised 10,000 untargeted click-throughs leave a comment. After all, 'when increasing the metric doesn't increase the benefit, then you have the wrong metric' :-)

Update:
[Feb 13, 2006 1948HRS] Finally the Paypal payment has cleared and the "campaign" has started. Although the stats page of the ad company says that 4 out of 10,000 visits have been served already, my tracker is showing none. Hmmm! Hope this wudn't keep happening until all 10,000 are (allegedly) served :-)

Update

Didn't update the blog for a while since was engrossed on a personal project I am working on right now. After a while, life is a bit more interesting than usual again :-) You will see the fruits of it soon - but not very soon. Just trying out some new stuff. I am the happiest when I am solving problems.

By the way, if you are good at AJAX or Perl, do let me know.
